*.DIF file format is used by FAST/Dazzle DV.now ... supported in Premiere too. But I've heard it for the first time when I read the DV.now manual downloaded from I-net. I little bit affraid of this unknow format for me.
I can't decide between DV.now Lite and Canopus's EzDV and this is one of the reasons.

      Ivan,
I suppose Canopus codec is better than MS. Canopus also produces regular avi, which you can use with any editor. It is clear advantage.
I have Dazzle firewire card for notebook. It works, but uses new type avi. Some old programs cannot understand this format. MS codec gives very bad quality on preview window. It is probably used in fast decoding mode.

Thanks for your response Grigory. I've bought EzDV yesterday. I hope it was the best choice for my needs from low priced DV cards. So now I can forget to DIF files.
Now all my PCI slots will be occupied. I afraid of IRQ conflicts...I'll see soon.
        MB Gigabyte 6BXD dual CPU
        AGP: Marvel G200
        PCI1: Adaptec 29160
        PCI2: EzDV
        PCI3: Promise ATA100 controller
        PCI4: NIC
        PCI5: SB Live! Value

        Pretty full. Isn't it?
