  • Marvel eTV 450 MPEG2 in realtime ???

    Hi all,

after all the posts about the eTV I didn't quite get if this new Marvel will be able to capture to MPEG2 in realtime. Could anybody shed some light on this, please?

    Thanks in advance,
    Thorsten

depends on your processor speed. If your CPU can compress to MPEG-2 in real-time, then the Marvel G450 can too

So is a 450 eTV basically a G400 Marvel with MJPEG compression removed? I.E. it offers video-in and video-out, but only uncompressed?

I read something about timeshifting regarding the G450 eTV ... check Matrox site for more info, since I don't know. But the G450 should have better image quality output than the G400... maybe better capture quality too???? I mean: hardware filters would only improve over time, wouldn't they?

          Now,

that's a great answer (c;= That means that the new Marvel will not be able to do a hardware compression in MPEG2-Format but will be totally dependent on the CPU, right?

          Regards,
