  • Soviet SECAM for Marvel g400TV?

    Brethren and sisters!

    I've got Marvel g400TV bought in Germany. It does support French SECAM, but doesn't support Soviet SECAM. Can anybody advice any way out from this situation?

    Thank you in advance.

    Anatoly from Belarus.

    Ïðèâåòñòâèå òîâàðèù!

    There are several SECAM flavors: B, D, G, K, K1 and L. According to "the book" this is how the relevent SECAM flavors are laid out;

    France (SECAM L [uhf & vhf]):

    Line/Field = 625/50
    FH = 15.625 khz
    FV = 50 Hz
    Blanking Setup = 0 IRE
    Video Bandwidth = 6.0 Mhz
    Audio Carrier = 6.5 Mhz
    Channel Bandwidth = 8 Mhz

    Belarus (SECAM D [vhf only]):

    Line/Field = 625/50
    FH = 15.625 khz
    FV = 50 Hz
    Blanking Setup = 0 IRE
    Video Bandwidth = 6.0 Mhz
    Audio Carrier = 6.5 Mhz
    Channel Bandwidth = 8 Mhz

    Russia (SECAM D [uhf] & K [vhf]):

    Line/Field = 625/50
    FH = 15.625 khz
    FV = 50 Hz
    Blanking Setup = 0 IRE
    Video Bandwidth = 6.0 Mhz
    Audio Carrier = 6.5 Mhz
    Channel Bandwidth = 8 Mhz

    In terms of the raw video standard this looks like a distinction without a difference.

    Perhaps what you really need is someone to generate a list of the frequencies used for each channel in Belarus so they can be manually entered into the registry. Not the easiest way to go but....

    Any takers?

              A useful site for information on different standards and frequencies around the world is
              http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Contrib/WorldTV/

              One problem between the French and Russian Secam on UHF is that one uses positive modulation and the other negative. see

                The card tuner does not have 6.5 MHz audio filter.
                Just another reason not to go Matrox way - saving on tuner boxes while another don't.

                Living in Russia or in Belarus is not related to Matrox marketing decisions - it was our parents decision to give us birth.
                I suppose that DK/BG collision was not the first thing they considered ...

                Also, I prefer meters/grams but not miles/pounds.
                Does anybody have different taste?

                  I'm from Russia. I have got RRG. After little alteration I see all the Moscow TV channels. I have replaced Philips TV tuner and corrected registry. My first hand was the replacing îf
                  the filters in american RRG. It worked too.
                  If you bought your MARVEL in Europe it may be contains PAL tuner with 5.5 MHz audio filtres. It is necessary to replace the audio filtres in tuner to 6.5 MHz.

                    It was bought in Germany, as I told you, from the authorized distributer of Matrox. But I don't see any TV channel although I made all necessary modifications of the registry. Nothing is seen, nothing is heard. Zero. Autoscan finds nothing. When I switch to "Germany" settings I found one or two stations in 40-45 channels. No sound, no color. So - my antenna works good.
