Actually, I have 60 and 40 gig drives in my current machine, both of which I was going to put in the new one (it will take 4). But your right, I should use one of these as the primary. I have Norton Ghost. Will that work when ghosting a serial ATA to an old style drive?
Maybe I should just add another new one for $110? Then I start thinking about RAID. Too many decisions.
    THanks.

A separate partition for apps is of limited value, since most (if not all) applications save tons of stuff in the Windows and System32 directories anyway (DLL's, INI files, ActiveX modules etc). A single partition is easier to backup and restore using tools like Acronis Trueimage. A separate DRIVE is a must-have for video data.

JonH: I miss the DVD burner in your list...

      Recommended: LG 4040B

Reads everything (even all "modern" Audio CD's) and writes everything, including DVD Ram.

Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.

Thanks, Flying dutchman. Will check out that DVD burner. I also added another identical hard drive for $110 yesterday. Given that the MB supports 4 of them, I may well go with RAID at some point.
