  • Case question for Dr Mordrid

    My main system has four 60g models in two 120g arrays. DAMNFAST....
    You mentioned this in another thread a while back. Just was wondering what case you are using to hold all this. I've had trouble finding something that has the drives close enough to the controllers for the cables to reach. Currently using a Chenbro Genie, and it barely works. Thanks.

    I'm not Doc, but I've six IDE drives, a DVDROM, and a CD-RW in my mid tower case.

    Since none if my cards are "full length" I mounted the normal two drives and DVD and CD-RW as "normal".

    For the four drives on the fasttrack66 I drilled eight holes on the floor of the case and mounted the drives on their sides, spaced as far apart as would fit. On the bottom of each drive I mounted one of those flat "hard drive cooler" fans orientated to blow towards the front of the case. In the aux fan cutout in front I added a 3.5" fan that blows out.

    Works quite well.

      I have it all in an Apex Supercase full tower. Six 5.25" bays and another six 3.5" bays. All of the 3.5" bays are within easy reach of the RAID adapter. I did a review of this case last year for TI's site. Here's the link;

      I have yet to find anything better at anywhere near the price: $65 USD.

      Also the setup has been reconfigured to a single 240 gig array. Works great.

        Thanks Doc,
        I'll look at picking one up before to long.
