Last night I had a (short) opportunity to play with the new Apex AD660 DVD deck.
This one plays DVD (natch) as well as VCD, XVCD, SVCD, Audio-CD and MP3-CD recorded on either CD-R or CD-RW. Not too shabby a picture either, but then it was connected to a 36" Sony WEGA
One VERY neat feature when playing MP3-CD's: it supports subfolders for sorting your MP3's. The folders are displayed on the screen as little yellow folders, complete with their names. Just like in an Explorer window. Just browse to what you want to play. GREAT!
It even worked with el-Cheapo Office Max CD-R's. You can't get any lower down the food chain than those. I didn't have time to try miniDVD, yet. It was closing time and they ran me out of the store
It also has an S-Video output and plays both NTSC and PAL.
I'm buying one if it plays miniDVD....hell, I might buy one if it doesn't....
$149 at my local Circuit City.
