  • Ulead MSP6 crash on DirectX init

    Hello,

after I installed some effects for an audio programm, MSP6 is crashing after initialization of DirectX.

I got it back to work by renaming the DxAudio folder in the instalation directory of MSP6.

Any idea how I could find out what effect kills it or how I could disable one or all of the effects?

    Regards,
    Karlson

It's not the most elegant solution, but usually when MSP does something strange (that happens pretty often), the best option for me is a quick re-install of the software.

    - uninstall msp
    - remove all files of the ulead msp directory
    - rename ulead.dat (directory in c:\windows)
    - rename ulead32.ini (file in c:\windows)
    - install msp

Of course it's nice to know what really is the problem, but usually it's better to have things up and running (in five minutes).

Some of the Dx audio filters can indeed cause MSPro6 to crash. I have no idea which ones, but they do it.

I first ran into this while betaing Vegas Video. It installed some Dx audio filters that took out MSPro6. Uninstalling Vegas fixed it.
