  • Rainbow Runner Compatability

Hey, folks. I'm at sea with a compatability problem here. I have the chance to pick up a Rainbow Runner G series card for not much, but I am trying to find out if it will work with either of my Matrox adapters. I am running on a G100MMS-TV, and I don't think it will work with that (too many tuners). I also have a G450 Dual Head (Model # G45FMDHP16DB) that has one RR connector. In the RR manual, they show two connectors. I really want the hardware mpeg of the RRG. Am I out of luck here? Should I buy this RRG? Should I save my money and get a real video capture card? What to do, what to do....

It will definatly not work with the G450. G400 was the last card to support RR-G.
It might work with the G100. I know it does with a regular G100, dunno about an MMS though...

I have RRG and it works with G200MMS flawless. The thing is this combo is supported only under Win98, but I still managed to use it under Win2k with certain constraints.

I went and sucked down the Matrox manual for the RR-G, and under the requirements box there is a footnote saying that it doesn't work with the G100MMS with a TV tuner (which is what I have). I surmise there is a conflict between the two tuners. If anybody knows how to turn the G100MMS-TV into a plain old G100MMS, I could use the RR-G, but that seems like a whole can of worms in itself. The reason for getting the RR-G is for the hardware mpeg codec. Even with Adis's wonderful efforts on VideoTools, my current system is too slow to correctly capture off the G100MMS-TV, and I thought this might be a solution. I guess I'll have to rethink this one. Back to the drawing board (or monitors)! Thanks for your input.
