I lost my set of Marvel G400-TV CD.

What is it that you need in particular ? I doubt that anyone is going to email you 600+Mb of software.

Drivers and VideoTools for the G400 are available either from Matrox themselves, or from www.murc.ws . On the software front, you'll be missing out on AvidCinema, which most folks will agree isn't the best editing package anyhow.

I'd be looking into buying something like Uleads VideoStudio4 or MGI's Videowave3 (or 4 if you can get hold of a copy). If you want to get into heavyweight editing, then you have a choice of Adobe Premiere (which never seems to work well with Marvels) or Uleads MediaStudio (available in versions 5 or 6). Version 5 is frequently available for good a good price at Ebay.

I only require the software LSX-MPEG2 since it can convert AVI to MPEG2.
I do not know where to download this software.

You can get something much better by downloading the TMPGEnc 12a encoder. It's freeware and beats the hell out of Ligos...

I wouldn't even bother to waste the space (about 1-2 Meg) on my hard drive for the Ligos encoder. It's quality is really poor compared to TMPGEnc. Besides, wasn't that encoder just a "lite" version, being really restricted in the options that were available?

            Yes, it was. Very limited.

To show you how much I like TMPGEnc: I uninstalled my FULL VERSION of Ligos 3.0 about 2 weeks after TMPGEnc 12a was released.

TMPGEnc seems to be available in three versions: 12, 12a, and 12b.

Which version is the one recommended?
It seems that 12a and above do not support MPEG-2?
Does 12b also need to be patched?

What is the input format for this encoder, i.e. what capture formats can/should be used to preserve maximum quality. I want to go from Hi8 back to SVHS, with editing in between.

                Thanks for any help,

                Harald

Version 12a is the one to get. Version 12b has MPEG-2 disabled. As far as getting the best quality goes this is obtained by capturing YUY2 video encoded with the HuffYUV lossless encoder and feeding the edited HuffYUV files to TMPGEnc.

Search for them in this forum and you'll come up with reading for a week. I'd also use the AVI_IO capture program.

                    Hello Dr Mordrid,
I downloaded TMPGEnc version 12a, and I wanted to use it. Do I need also the "TMPGEnc VFAPI" file?
What is the purpose of it?
                    Greetings
