  • AVI2?

    Hello,
I was wondering how someone goes about making an AVI2 (OpenDML) file with Marvel G400? I've been reading about it and would like to give it a go. I know you use either FAT32 or NTFS as the filesystem, but what else do you need (codecs, etc.)?

    Thank you

OpenDML has to be supported in both the filesystem AND the editing/plugin software. Also some codecs aren't OpenDML aware.

You can still do long captures though if you capture with AVI_IO. It captures a series of 2 gig Matrox MJPeg files seamlessly. These can be strung together in your editor to give you long duation sequences.

HuffYUV, PICVideo and Morgan MJPeg, and many other software codecs are OpenDML aware and can create files of up to 4 gig files in Win98/FAT32. Another option is to render finished products to MPEG-2 (not a good option in MSPro6. Poor quality & due for an update).

If you're still using Avid Cinema....good luck It's an orphaned product and is no longer supported by Avid.

If you're editing in NT4 or Windows2000 (not easy since the Marvel's Win2K drivers are still in beta) then OpenDML means uplimited file sizes IF the software & codec support it as well.
