  • Premiere 6 BIG problem, please help.

    Hi all,

When I want to start(Premiere 6) it crashes during start-up (splash screen), while loading plug-ins namely zigzag.

Top error dialog is displayed first.
    What is the Font capture???
    System: Dual Piii BX440, 256RAM, NT4 SP6a
    Marvel G200, EzDv,...

    What to do?

thanks in advance for any suggestion

    Ivan

The generic fix for Premiere weirdness is to delete the PremXX.prf file for whatever version you're using. For 6.0 this would be Prem60.prf. When this file is deleted Premiere rescans it's resources, fixing many simple problems along the way, and then it creates a new Prem60.prf file.

If that doesn't work then I'd start checking for problems in the Windows or font installations or if the swapfile has grown enough to make the disk run short on space. This can cause an "out of memory" condition, even if it is just virtual memory.

After that you're into "Premiere-ism's" and it's time to call Adobe.

Yes, I have Premiere 6.0 and it's running just fine here.

        Hi Doc, thank you.
I've tried to delete that file but unfortunatelly without success. When I open that file I can see that all plugins are loaded. ZigZag (FX_ZZ....) is only the last in alphabet or directory order that is loaded. Than Premiere performs something what is not readable in prf file. And THAT leads to error. WHAT is that? WhatheFck is Font Capture?? I was searching in registry, on disk, everywhere.

        What do you mean by:
"checking for problems in the Windows or font installations or if the swapfile has grown enough to make the disk run short on space"
My swap is as WindowsNT has recommended during installation concerning my RAM size. I've never had a problem with memory (256MB).
And about fonts? How can it crash the program?
I've found this on adobe but without any response.
