  • Motherboard for Marvel 400TV

    Hi Ya Folks,
A friend of mine is giving me his Pentium4 box. The cpu is a 1.8c, 1Gig of pc2100 ram, 2, 40G hard drives (I think they are IBM's) etc etc. The only thing missing is the motherboard.

I haven't seen it but he thinks the motherboard crapped out on him, and it was a cheapo motherboard, so he's getting a brand new AMD system.

Anyways what I want to do is put my matrox g400marvel into this P4 box and use it as my video editting machine along with my firewire card for my camcorder. The question I'm asking is what is the best chipset-motherboard for use with the marvel with the P4? I know about SiS being the best chipset for the AMD platform as I have the msi 745 ultra board and had no trouble using the matrox card with it, so I'm wondering what is the best chipset for the P4.
    Thanks for the help.

SIS probably is quite reaonable, but I think the best for intel CPU's would be an intel board.

Yes, Intel mobo will be OK

Note that Marvel G400-TV is AGPx4 (1,5V) card
so it will work fine with most of new motherboards.

        Your best choice is:

        You can buy it for 83CAD and you get: 6ch audio(RealtekALC650), 2channel SATA(SiliconImage3112), GigabitE(Broadcom) and 2port FireWire(TexasInstruments TSB43AB22).

          Thanks folks,
I was just a little concerned about the intel chipsets with the marvel. I just didn't want to have the problems I had when I had a via chipset board. And Sis chipset Pentium 4 boards are hard to find.
          Thanks

            I used Marvel G400-TV with two (PIII & P4)
            Intel motherboards with no problems
