  • What probs can I expect if ATI AIW doesn't support VFW

Apparently ATI's AIW Radeon doesn't support VFW at M$'s request. If I use MSPro 5.2 and Premiere 6.0, am I asking for trouble?

My main use of the card will be to cut down footage from an analogue camcorder, and then output to VCR for final tape. I may want to do web videos now and again though, and I don't necessarily want to use MPEG because I prefer Window's Media Producer because of file size/quality balance it provides.

Thanks again for assisting forward in my Marvel G200 upgrade.

Since there are no replies, I will have to assume that this will not be an issue, but in case there is an opinion, please post it.

The main issue is you won't be able to use it for netshow/netmeeting. If this is not important to you and ATI can supply working drivers You should be OK with Premiere6.

MSP5.2 is VfW based so you'll be out of luck there too. MSP6 will be OK.

The Win2K drivers for the AIW cards are all BETAware, not release versions. Check the site. They're all listed under "Special Purpose - UNSUPPORTED drivers".

Even the RADEON drivers have major issues.
