  • MS 5.2 Error Message - Windows Reinstall?

Wondering if there is anything I can try other than the dreaded drive reformat and complete Windows reinstall. After upgrading motherboard bios in prep for a CPU upgradeand installing/uninstalling Videowave IV, MS 5.2 is now (and for the first time) unstable. It gives various error messages about being unable to read the file, as well as page fault errors. Sometimes it works -- for a while -- then goes nuts again. Obviously, I have uninstalled/reinstalled the program as well as my G400 drivers. No change. Also tried uninstalling PicVideo. Do I need to uninstall the YUY crack and Huffy when I uninstalled the Matrox drivers? Any tips/ideas are much appreciated.

Make sure that when you are uninstalling to remove all of the possible offneding files, such as the ulead32.ini in the windows directory. Also that all of the matrox stuff is gone. Some of the files are in the mgafolder others in windows directories, mainly the system folder. You may or may not want to delve into the registry. I believe that there are step by step for complete uninstall of the drivers on the Matrox wesite. I really think that your problem is in the ulead32 file (the uninstall does not remove it). If it gets corrupted, life begins to suck really fast!!

    Good Luck

Note-- Make sure that the files are not in the recycle bin when you delete them, sometimes they'll reappear.

Thanks a lot. I will try doing a more thorough uninstall tonight. Also had a bad download situation with Nero -- didn't really install and then didn't uninstall properly, so I had to uninstall manually. I always fear I will botch something up doing that. For this reason, I really hope it is a Ulead problem.
