Matrox driver crashes windows on blue screen

In attempt to solve my audio problems, I deleted C:\Windows and re-installed it again. Everything was fine, untill I installed the latest video drivers "w9x_541.exe" and on shut down Windows started crashing on blue screen with the message "A fatal exception 0E has occured on 0028:C000082CD in VXD VMM(01)+000072CD" I tried updating windows; restored the original BIOS on the Matrox, uninstalled and installed the driver and videotools again -- nothing helps. Now what? What am I doing wrong here? Is my computer defective?

Probably yes: your computer is defective. Something is wrong in your hardware. Any incompability. It should work.

I have no idea, but I found the source of the problem -- the computer starts crashing as soon as I install HuffYuv. Tried both versions.

What exact version numbers are you using? The only one you should install is 2.1.1. It's listed on the HuffYUV page as a "pre-built dll".

The other two listed on that page, 1.3.1 and 1.2.3, are buggy.
