DV500 vs DV1000 (or what should I buy?)
Hello all, I'm new to this but I've always wanted to get into video production and editing. I primarily want to edit an ametuer movie (wether it's shot on VHS, DV, or Beta SP) into a finished product. I'll admit that I know almost nothing about this stuff but I really want to learn. I was hoping that you could steer me to the product that best fits my needs. I am starting a project with some friends shortly and we were throwing around the idea of shooting with a Canon XL1.
I was following the DV500 vs RT2000 threads with much interest, and the RT2000 looked like the superior product, but I'm not going to dedicate a new system to NLE at this time. Therefore, I need to use my currect $500 video card and not be stuck with the G400.
Whats the difference between the DV500 and DC1000 other than $800? Will this extra $800 be worthwhile down the road for me? Should I look at a different product altogether? I have several months before I plan on buying, so if you can recommend some other sources to educate me, I would appreciate it...
