This message is for mynx "As a repair technician" (like you said) or for anybody is interested.
I have a JVC gr-dvx7 PAL miniDV from one year 1/2 now.
When is first start using the camera i really liked the LP mode (record 90 min video on 60 min tape) so my first tapes are all recorded in LP.
Now i'm having "sometime" a problem playng back those tapes becouse the camera produce pixellation and flashing color and strange effect. The really strange thing is that it does NOT do this everytime.
I have noticed that whenever the room temperature is cold (like 5-8 grades) the camera produced this defect and i'm not able to view correctly my video that is all disturbed by those giant flascing pixel multicolor.
I belive that the tapes are fine and not rowind becouse sometime happen that (maybe with a wormer temperature) the camera play those tapes just fine (no problem).
So ... i'm confused... is the camera damaged ? is it supposed to be like that ? why do i have this problem only in LP mode and not SP ?? Is anybody else having this kind of problem in LP mode ?
I bought my camera during summer season, so again i guess i never had the pixellation problem becouse the warmer temperature ??? or becouse the camera was new ??
Can someone help me and tell me a reasonable explanation for this problem ?
Thanks in advance
Max
PS: The camera work great in SP mode in any situation or temperature.
