What does the blue box for the Marvel G400 do? I got the impression that it is a breakoutbox and a tuner. Is it an analogue tuner? Does this tuner give better image quality than the integrated tuner of the RRG upgrade? How much, if so? I am asking this, because I'm fed up with my Pinnacle PCTV Pro in Win2k, due to bad driver support. And I get quite a bit of distortion too when viewing, and even more when capturing.

The blue breakout box provides a convenient way to wire up inputs and outputs to the Marvels. Or that’s the idea on paper, as the wire that connects to the back of the computer is so thick it usually creates more mess than it solves.
Both the Marvel and RR-G have analog tuners. The Marvel houses it in the breakout box, while it is located on the RR-G itself (as the RR-G has no breakout box). By not locating the tuner inside the PC, the Marvel avoids some interference, however the effects are minor, if even noticeable.
The kicker is that both the RR-G and Marvel are still without final Windows 2000 drivers. The current beta drivers aren’t ready for prime time. Basically they allow me to watch TV, and that’s about it. Any more, and I have to reboot into 98. The good news is that, according to http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/For...ML/000067.html
drivers should be on the way.
