This software doesn't support this version of Windows.

Trying to install tis app, I get teh message "This software doesn't support this version of Windows." Then to OK and quit.

I'm running WXP Pro with SP1.

            What's going on?

VirtualDub also doesn't seem to see the card/device either....

I'm at a loss... seeming to not have a working option right now... any ideas?
            thanks,
            Chris

              Addis,

Thanks for the interest. I do'nt intend to deviate this thread from its main objective. There could be somthing wrong from my end. What's important is that I managed to unzip the drivers and I'm happy.

              A big thanks to you.

                Which card, which drivers...?

Which drivers you are trying to install?

                  my bad...
G400-TV. I installed the latest PowerDesk software from your site.

I was trying to install the Video Tools setup form your site as well.

                    VideoTools installation completed?

If can't complete it, be sure Registry is modified...
                    Read 1st setup dialog carrefuly

                      hrm...
OK, I glossed over that step..
                      But:
                      >>>
â–º Don't forget to modify Windows Registry before VideoTools installation.

You can read what to modify in the first VideoTools setup dialog.
                      >>>

I'm not at that machine right now to double check on those instructions, but I don't recall seeing any instructions for editing the registry. I guess I was just to excited to install so I skipped the first dialog... enough so I don't even remember seeing it.

But yeah, I'd say that IS the problem.. hehe.

I installed your latest WinXP drivers and it seems to work great! Using the last drivers, I often would end up with corrupted video when attempting to use the M-JPEG hardware. I've been dual-booting into Win98SE for video capture for this reason. I plan to try some extensive testing over the next few days and if all works well, I may finally get to dump my Win98 partition!

Just a few comments and issues I have noticed...

                        1. The fields seem to be swapped when capturing with AVI-IO or PC-VCR. This can be fixed using the "Field Swap" filter in VDUB; but I was wondering if you know of this can be adjusted somewhere in the Video Tools or in the Windows Registry?

                        2. Using PC-VCR, I can capture to RBG, YUY2 or M-JPEG. Is there anyway to capture to the HUFFYUV codec within that application?

                        3. The 2gig file size limitation still exists with PC-VCR. Any chance this might be changed in the future when using NTFS? Or, alternately, make the file splitting more seamless without missing any frames (kind of like AVI-IO).

                        Thanks for your efforts!

PS: If it helps... I can host the complete files on my Apache webserver that I am running on my Linux box at home. I don't have a domain name yet and I am using Comcast cable internet which periodically changes my IP address; so it isn't a perfect solution but it is an option.

OK, home now... re-rant the setup proggie and there is no first dialog to give me info on editing my registry... the first thing that pops up after the installer splash image is that I'm running the wrong version of windows.... oh how you teased me
So, where do I find the registry instructions?
                          thanks,
                          C-

There is no limitations about Windows version
in installation, something's wrong on your system.

The first setup dialog is here...

                            Run Registry Editor and highlight:
                            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum

                            If using WinXP/2K3
Right click on Enum > Permissions > select Everyone
allow Full Control > Click OK and Exit the Registry.

                            If using Win2K
Select the Enum key > Security on the menu > Permissions
select Everyone > allow Full Control > OK and Exit.

NOTE: Run Win2K Registry by typing regedt32, NOT regedit.

                              bprothero

With AVI_IO you can capture YUY2 format in combination with
most codecs so PICVideo MJPEG and HUFFYUV will give good
results. In both codec's options you can swap fields so that's it.

Problem with 2gig files will solve AVI_IO.

You can upload files and give me a links
and I will put "mirror links" on my site

adis... GOT IT. Thanks. HONESTLY... twice I downloaded what I thought was teh right VT installer.. but it was teh wrong one. Don't know how that happened... other than that I use FireFox and your page's dhtml links don't WORK in FireFox... so when I returned with IE... I must have downloaded the wrong thing... cuz somehow I ended up with version 1.52 or something like that.
Anywaym, it installed... now to put it to work.
                                thanks,
