  • Video Benchmarking site update

As most of you here already know, I've been running a small video benchmarking site for a few years now. It usually gets neglected when I'm really busy or when the product I'm benchmarking is near the end of a cycle. The site is very informal since I piggyback it off of my band site.

Anyway, the site is located here:

The reason I'm posting is because I've simplified the site and made some "final" comments regarding MSP7 performance. I quote the word final because I would like to see a few Athlon 64 and P4 Prescott scores. If you have either of these cpus, or any other cpu, please give the benchmark a try. Please be sure to give the instructions a good read before submitting scores.

I've also been learning Ulead's Cool3D and this thing eats cpu cyles like there's no tomorrow. I'm thinking of creating a benchmark script for this program as well. Or, if anyone is a Cool3D Studio expert and would like to submit a benchmark script please e-mail it to me.

If you spend a lot time working with video on the computer, and you're like me, you find it interesting to see how various systems and configurations perform, and how honest both software and hardware manufacturers are regarding their performance claims. That's why the site is there and I continue to work with it even after long periods of inactivity.

Thanks to everybody to has participated in the past. I plan to keep running the site just for the sake of my own curiosity if nothing else!

Lots of good info! You might want to correct the following sentence on your site though:

"At this point in time Intel has about a 30% lead in clockspeed over Intel..."

Thanks Patrick. It could be true if I was comparing the P4 to the Pentium M!!!
