Well I am not a motherboard or "official" hardware tester but so far I have not been able to find a way to make this board screw up! It captures Matrox Mjpeg for up to (so far) 47 minutes of video without dropping a frame, it captures HuffyUV/YUY2 stuff without a problem, basically it has done everything I have asked it to do without complaints, lockups or any other "funny" stuff happening.
I know some other sites have had some not so nice things to say about this board but for me it is working out quite well.
The onboard Fasttrak controller works flawlessly, the board runs one processor just fine. I can't wait for processor #2 to show up.
I am debating springing for Premiere to see if it helps my editing go fater since it is a multi-threaded app. I wish Ulead would make MsPro that way. I am really used to the interface and would prefer to stay with it.
If anyone has any "tests" that they know of that I might try to see if this board will choke, let me know and I will give it a try. Until then I am going to FINALLY get around to spending some long hours finishing up some video projects that have been gathering dust.
Along the lines of software: Hey Doc Mordrid, it has been awhile and I was wondering if you still favor NT 4.0 with Winternals Fat32 software for the capture drive or if you are leaning towards W2K or does 98se do it for you?

NT4 is basically dead meat now.

Between the new RT-2000 MEGA Pack 3.0 drivers with Win2K/NTFS support and the upcoming Marvel drivers with same (and the eTV) I doubt I'll be running Win98SE for long except on our one gaming system. It's still better for that.

As far as MSI mainboards go what about the MS-6330 3.0b? Not bad for a single CPU board. I admit the VIA chipset makes me wonder but the specs look good. Normally I don't like onboard devices, but it has a FT100

I will most likely convert everything over to W2K once the final drivers are released. But for now Are there any problems you have noticed using NT 4.0 with the Winternals software? Since I have both programs I would like to see how the dual-processor thing works for now. And since the W2K drivers are beta, AND since Matrox doesn't have a firm date set for final release of drivers I want to start working now, rather than later. Besides I don't have W2K to put on this machine and since I don't want to plunk down my hard earned greenbacks for something that isn't released at present, my NT 4 inquiry holds.

The AMD board does look promising if I was going the AMD route I would definately consider it.

        Hi Riktar:
I´m following the trail from the previous topic. I´m really interested in buying this motherboard so I´ll ask you some more questions:
Can you tweak the FSB down to 100MHz?
Have you tried full screen Huffyuv capture for a long clip (30 min)?
How is the dual head output to TV? (for 3d gaming)
Is TMPEG aware of dual CPUs? (I know this isn't a hardware question but I wanted to justify the dual CPU investment)
        Thank you

"Tweak" the FSB to 100? Mine is at 100. No "tweaking" involved. It auto-detected the chips.

          I would still get screwed

The Winternals NTFS for Win2K software works good with the Win2K versions of the NTFS drivers. Just install Win2K & copy them over just as you would with NT4.

              Hi Carlos,
Just for you I loaded up Unreal tournament and played it for about 5 minutes using the dualhead feature. It ran without a problem. As for the HuffyUV captures I haven't quite done a capture that long. I have done a 27 minute capture without any dropped frames. I don't know about the SMP stuff in regards to TMPEG.
              Hey Doc,
Thanks for the reply but doesn't W2K already have the ability to see FAT32 partitions?

Windows 2000 has no trouble with fat32, although you still have the 2/4 GB file limits on fat32 disks.

                  Riktar:
Thank you very much for your patience.
I'm gonna get one of those for my new PC.
