  • MJPEG Picture Shift!

After capturing a video clip with my Marvel G400 (using MJPEG compression) I bring it into Adobe Premier, or any other video editing software.

Once into the editer, the picture *SHIFTS* several pixels down and the right right. Creating a block 'border' on the top and left, while pushing pixels off on the right and bottom!

This happens for ever capture I've done in every video editor package I've tried -- what gives!?

Is there a fix for this, or when is it expected?

    Thanks for any help!

    Nick:

I've noticed it too but it hasn't been a problem for me because when I output to tape the black border disappears into the TV's "overscan" area.

Archiving files to CD, I've just gotten used to living with it for the above reason.

If there is a fix, I'd like to hear it!

      Hi Nick Pappas,
I tried to get a solution for that problem for a lot of time without chance (with my Marvel G200), the answer i got is "for that amount of money you can't get any better"
Is my opinion that is a driver problem, but if Matrox, after 1 year, is not able to produce final drivers for windows 2000 how can i image they will be able to solve that problem?
      regards

        Nick,

This seems to be a well-known Marvel quirk that people have been complaining of for years.

The fact that it has not been cured in the various video drivers issued since it first was brought to Matrox' attention (including a new model) makes me think that it is something inherent.

Like most others, it doesn't bother me because it doesn't show in the end-product, i.e. the image on a TV screen. Even if it did, I don't think many would be upset by it. How many viewers don't even notice when a 16:9 image is being received on a 4:3 TV and the black borders there are really noticeable?
