If I make a recording in LP mode on my analogue camcorder, what effect will that have on captured video quality?

Can someone explain the LP concept and how it works - I presume you would loose quality but is it in screen resolution? motion problems? less fps?

It works by slowing down the tape speed. The only cams I've seen that can do it reasonably well are SuperVHS or Hi8's. As far as standard 8mm or VHSc goes...forget it. The quality sucks.

You lose detail and sharpness. There is more video noise. For VHS-C and SVHS-C the audio is terrible. The audio loses the higher frequencies.

I have a Sony TRV-45E (Video8 "XR") which can record about 400 horizontal lines (I think).

I understand that the quality suffers, but am I getting fewer lines or are the pixels just bigger? I guess that if the tape is running slower, it has to squeeze more data onto the tape.
