I am very new to video editing and DVD authoring, so bear with me ....

I was playing around with the trial version of MediaStudio Pro 7 trying to convert my DV video to DVD. I am using a Panasonic PV953 btw.

First I captured the DV directly from the PV953 as type 1 DV. Seemed to work fine. I can play the captured AVI fine, both video and audio.

Did a bunch of trimming, added some transition effects, etc, nothing fancy, just standard stuffs to my captured DV's. Did a convert to mpeg format using the DVD NTSC template. I did change the audio to AC3-2ch. Seemed to convert fine.

Import the mpeg file into MovieFactory and have it burned a DVD. Played the DVD on my Pioneer DVD player. I have video BUT there is no audio !!!

Alright. What could be wrong here? I noticed that my DV was captured with 48kHz stereo. Don't know if this is relevant to my problem.

Thanks in advance for any pointers to help me solve this. Anything else I should try?

    Mpeg audio?

    Hi,

Can you verify that your finished DVD actually contains AC-3 audio? It might be that DVD MF converted the audio to mpeg L2? There's a checkbox in DVD MF to tell it "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" (or something like that -- I believe it's in the project properties).

if you do have mpeg audio on your DVD, then that might be the problem. Not all NTSC DVD Players can handle mpeg audio.

If you play the DVD using some computer software DVD Player (like PowerDVD or WinDVD), can you hear the audio on the computer?

    Regards,
    George

Rather than get involved with the settings for DVD compliant MPEG, why not just make a series of .AVI files out of MSP and import those into MovieFactory... then you can let it do the conversion. I've found it to be a lot less painful, myself.
