  • G400-TV & Premiere 6.0

    I am having a problem with 6.0 that i did not have with 5.1.

    Whenever I move the edit line in the timeline, my system locks up for up to 30 seconds before it shows the point. Then I can freely move it around with no problems. However, if I don't move it for a couple of seconds, the next time I move it, same problem.

    It is like it is initializing the Matrox card and is having trouble. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

    The problem is likely that it keeps flushing the Matrox codec out of memory. Without that it can't scrub. The delay is the codec reloading.

    Look in the Premiere6 root folder for a file named Prem60.ini. Add the following entry;

    [codec]
    keepopen=dmb1

    Good luck.

        Doc
        do you know a similar setting in MSP6?

        I just tried this in Pr6. Works fine but something went wrong and PC VCR and all the MSP 6.0 bunch was kicked off by the damn Pr 6.0. (needed to reinst PD 5.41 and VT 1.52)
        I try my Marvel G400 to "fall in love" with Premiere 6.0 No success. I love MSP 6.0 and my G400 does it too...
        So, any ideas about to keep the codec open in MSP 6.0, please?

          Okay, how about this one...

          Any way to fix the jerky playback when I playback from the timeline (in Premiere 6.0)? Right now, the only way is for me to create one AVI file, but that does not help if it goes over 2 gig.

            I'm not sure we've got the same problem but I could not output type 1 DV AVI files back to the camcorder for more that 30-40 seconds before the playback gets all choppy -- slow down, speed up, messed up audio etc. -- totally useless! Didn't matter if I was playing back the timeline or "exporting to tape".

            Solution was to go into project-settings-capture-video-whatever (I stumbled around to find it and don't remember the exact selection sequence) and turn off "display DV on desktop" This makes Premiere 6 act like MSP 6 in that if the camcorder is powered off scrubbing and preview go to the desktop monitor window, but if the camcorder is powered on, then the computer preview window is black, but the output over firewire to the camcorder is smooth.

            I first added (spelling might not be exact)to Prem60.ini:

            [DxMedia}
            PreferDSCodecs=1

            [Override]
            FastPreviewWhilePlayback=1

            And this seemed to smooth on screen playback, but then I tried to export the timeline to tape thru the camcorder :-(

            I'd like to know what Premiere 6 developers used, as outta the box, its settings seem to demand more than most systems with OHCI firewire can provide.
