  • Installing Audio Codec

    Hi All,

How do I go about installing a mp3 codec in WinXP. I only have the files.

    Regards,

    Debbie

I would think you would have to register some of the files, what kind of files are they?

usually it would be something like

    regsvr32 c:\filepath\filename.ext

open up your command prompt, and go to your c:\windows\system 32 directory

        and type

        regsvr32 l3codeca.acm

(substitute whatever file your registering with l3codeca.acm )

and press return, you should get a successfully registered mesage.

to unregister the file just put slash u in front. eg

        regsvr32 /u l3codeca.acm

Import this .reg to your Registry, it will add "Register" and "Unregister" right-click-commands to DLL's and OCX's

Thanks addis. Will it work on acm's ?

              PS.

I have just discovered. No it will not register acm's.

Perhaps a line or two can be entered in the reg file ?
