my mjpeg captures usually go beyond the 2 gig limit.

the problem is that their framerates are slightly off. one will be 29.95 and the other 30.02. thus, i am unable to join them with some video editing software.

    any suggestions??

i've seen this question asked before, but with no easy answers.

There are no absolutely "easy" answers

    Capture time:

If you're using a Matrox card then you can set it up for YUY2 captures encoded with PICVideo MJPeg. This codec is OpenDML compliant and will allow for 4 gig files in FAT32 and virtually unlimited files in the NTFS filesystem used in Win2K.

AVI_IO will be very useful for the captures as it can use external compressors (Matrox's PC-VCR cannot, nor can most other propriatory capture proggies) and it can lock the frame rate down to an exact value. This helps keep the audio in synch.

In the case of Win2K/NTFS, however, you'll have to wait a bit for Win2K drivers for the Matrox cards...

    Edit time:

If you're using MSPro you can use the File/Convert/Frame Rate tool to normalize all the files to the same rate before editing or joining.

yes, it is a matrox card. i just got the g400 tv.

this sorta defeats the purpose of the hardware encoder.

avi_io seems to crash on me quite a bit, but it sounds like my only choice.

i thought there were win2k drivers on their website?

      Thanks for responding!

      i don't have ms pro.

i found one solution that may be easy.

using ulead media studio, insert the clips into your project one after another.

then, just create whatever video format file you want. i haven't tested the final output yet though.
