  • MS Pro 6.0 error when open dvp file, "can't access audio codec driver" ???

Getting can't access audio codec driver when I open a particular dvp file. Other projects are fine, just this one, which of course is really important.

I'm using 440bx motherboard, PIII850, and ATI AIW.

It might help to know what codec we're talking about. This isn't unusual with MP3's on export since MSPro6's MP3 support is read only.

The error doesn't specify which audio codec.

      Here's what it says:

"Unable to access the audio codec driver"
      [17104:2:2]

There are no mp3 files in this production, only one wav (PCM 44.1/16bit) file.

Strange thing is that other productions with wave files load and run fine.

Try checking in the Multimedia in Control Panel. Look under the "Devices" tab and expand the "Audio Compression Codecs". Find "Microsoft PCM Converter" and open it. make sure that it is marked as "Use this codec". That's the best I can come with so far. Hope it helps.

Well, thanks for the help guys. The dvp file must become corrupt.

This has happened to me twice now and has me concerned. I guess the best thing for me to do would be to create backup dvp files of my projects as I work on them.

One more thing, how can I make a still photo do a transition from color to b/w?

That's an easy one. Just do a dissolve or crossfade between a color and a black & white version of the same image.

Of course! I really should have figured that one out.

How can that effect be done for a video clip?

This is an old thread, but I have the exact same problem as the original poster. I wanted to see if a solution was ever found.

I have seen similar posts about this problem without a solution ever being posted.

This problem occurrs when you create a divx avi from your project and then save your project. if you do create divx files with ulead media studio, make a backup copy of your project file first. then, switch to a non divx compression before saving again.

To make a color video turn monochrome I'd use the HSV filter on the clip and adjust the saturation to zero on a keyframe near the end of the transition.

                  --wally.
