  • Does anyone still capture with G400TV?

    Hi
Just thought I would ask this question to keep this forum active.

Does anyone out there still use their G400TV to capture analog signals or have you all moved off to newer kit? I ask because I have been reading all the reviews on the ADVC100 and was wondering whether I should jump ship?

Look forward to a few comments.

    tossed mine for an rtx10.
Even when the g400tv was working it had issues - stopped recordings, truncated files, green lines, etc. etc.
Now other than the odd Premiere crash, the system captures and edits almost flawlessly.

I have 8 systems and several of them still have Marvels and a couple of eTV's for use as analog capture devices along with the now ubiquitous DV I/O. The others have RT.X100 & RT-2000's.

There I go again, having to login !

Yes Doc. I still use the "old" G400-TV on my other coputer and still like using it if I'm working there.

I moved it on to my internet tower, where I'm at right now. I have Addis drivers installed and only use AVI_IO for capturing. Yes Doc. still "ticking away"

My other capturing devices are a Asus Radeon 9600 (VIVO) and a Firewire card for my digital camcorder.

Because I couldn't make the stretch to an ADVC100, I bought an ATI ViVo for a fifth of the price. That's the situation here in Oz, unfortunately. I'm keeping my G200 Marvel on hand just in case the ATI solution turns out to be a fizzer. I've had the new card almost three months but to date I've been too busy with other projects to do any video work with it. In the meantime, dual head on the ATI has been lovely. If you have the means though, definitely go for an ADVC for video capture, everyone raves about it.

Look at my two systems in the signature, below.
Tha BOB is temporarlely detached from the Marvel, but ready to use if needs.
Debbie has right: the drivers from Adis work very well for Marvel G400 in WinXP. Me too used AVI_IO to capture analog.
I am, and was using Ulead MSP7 Vid.Capture for MPEG capture.
The only problem I've had with the Marvel is the missing of WDM capture.

I don't use the capture functionality anymore (switched to Terratec Cynergy because it uses WDM drivers) but the Marvel is still my main graphics card because of it's still unsurpassed TV-out quality.
I don't do any serious gaming so I'll probably keep the Marvel until it dies, or mismatches my next mainboard, whichever comes first...

I was actually starting to hunt around to make a cheap PVR using my old G200 Marvel TV card. Problem is that its quite old to say the least and for a long time has not had Win2k drivers that were worth a crap. Main reason I ditched teh card and just went with a gaming card once I replaced teh Pure 3D II's.

So any one know of software that will actually work with the G200 TV cards ?

Debbie some more info on what you mentioned would be very cool.

                    -Thanks

Got the Marvel G400 in my main workstation (this one) dual-booting win98 and 2000. Works well in both with Adis' drivers.

Got the old Marvel G200 in my "entertainment center" and its still going strong too.
