  • 1394 probs, mvt3, rt2000, WinME and premiere 6???

Hiya.. I wonder if you guys can help.
Im running MVT3.0 Beta, and i cant capture or export via firewire anymore.

I remember reading somewhere that you can enable the microsft drivers, or get premiere to recognise the rt2000 as a generic 0HCI 1394 card, to capture, then once the file is captured, you can use the footage in real time as normal.

Does anyone have any idea how to do this?
(or know how to get firewire working with mvt3) There have been a lot of soloutions posted, i have tried many of them and most of them fix problems with WIN2K whereas i am running WinME..

    Thanks for your time..

You can use it as a generic card if you get the DVConnect.exe file from a WinME or Win98SE installation and run it. Once this installs you can use the RT-2000 as a generic OHCI card from Premiere, MSPro6 etc.

That said why don't you just uninstall/reinstall your 3.0 drivers?

      Thanks Doc,

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my mvt 3.0 drivers again, but no joy

I have also tried following to the letter the pdf instructions, but again no joy.

im pretty joyless these days :O)

I cant seem to get it recognised as a generic card.. cos premiere six still wont let me use it. I select device to in device control- then sony camera, pal, TRV110E then try clicking the check box and there is no response.. When i click ok and try and use the camersa no response..

Ah well.. It seems others are having problems as well so hopefully a fix will be found...

make sure that the 1394 driver that windows is using is the:

OHCI Complient IEEE 1394 Host Controller

i had this same problem, finally i changed the driver away from the TI driver to the generic M$ one and it works like a charm now. Given, i don't have a rt2k and i'm running win2k, but as far as i can recall, the rt uses a TI chipset so this might solve your problem

You change the driver by setting up the Device Control in the Device Control prefs.

Have you tried running a dualboot and using MSPro in the Win9x/ME side?

First of all do not install the drivers. Next disable the RT2K card and RT2K loader in Device manager and install the IEEE-1394 drivers from the MSPro6 disk. This for sure makes it work.

good idea.. but i have no mspro..

plus the thread i read before.. said that he captured with premiere making it think it was a generic card.. but once captured the footage could be manipulated in realtime with the rt2000.

i do have a duelboot system, winme, r2k disabled and an editing partition just dedicated to .. well editing. lol

i switch back to mvt2, do some work then fiddle with 3 some more.. though 2 mvt2.0 is playing up now.. it wont export the audio in dv files hmm.. well thats another thread entirely lol

here's instructions for changing it in 2k, it's pretty much the same for 9x though also.

to change the driver, hit the windows key & pause/break to bring up system properties, then go tothe hardware tab. then choose device manager. there will either be a root for digital imaging device or ieee 1394 controller. whereever M$ decided to put it on your hardware list, find it, go to properties, then choose update driver. this will bring up theupgrade device driver wizard. have it search your computer for other drivers (specifically <windows path>\1394.inf), and choose the one that i mentioned above. DO NOT choose the one that is actually made by texas instruments. it should not say texas instruments anywhere on the driver. switching that made my cheapo TI dv card work wonderfully, i don't know for sure if it'll work for you, but it can't hurt to try.

                  That driver that's on the MSPro6 disk is the TI OHCI-1304 DirectX driver. Here's a URL to it;

                  http://www.siig.com/drivers/1394_drivers.html

                  Download the file "243174up.exe"

It works very nicely with DX8's new MSDV driver and the RT-2000 (no drivers, codec card disabled in '98SE) with our Panasonic cams (PV-DV910, PV-DV200).

DVConnect250.exe works a bit less good with our Panasonic cams, but might well work with others.
