  • unable to load PicVideo

I'm with ya on the frustration factor.

I tried recording the Sopranos while running some quality tests last night, and the 3rd out of 4 files won't let me convert to Mpeg-1

    1st file done using AVI_IO w/PicVideo set to quality=9, 352x240, 15mins, @ 330Mb; converted with TMPGEnc ran fine.

2nd file done with PC-VCR using Matrox MJpeg
set to 352x240 w/4.1:1, CD Quality, 15mins, @ 1.288Gb; converted with TMPGEnc ran fine.

3rd file done with AVI_IO w/PicVideo all settings same as 1st file except set to Qaulity=20, 352x240, ~ 12-14mins, @ 1.7Gb; attempt to convert w/TMPGEnc failed due to unable to load file, same error in Ulead 5.0

4th file done with AVI_IO w/Huffyuv set at 352x240, about 8 mins, @ 1.045Gb, converted file with TMPGEnc no problem.

All files were done using default settings except for tweaks indicated. The files done w/PicVideo, subsampling was set to 4/2/2, 2 fields if more than 240 lines, no swap decompress field, no force YUY2 output, codec enabled. The only difference between the 2 files done w/PicVideo codec was the Q setting and the file size.

I was going to put the files in order on CD-R as MPEG-1 for VCD, then check the quality of each section for future recordings. I can't seem to do anything with the PicVideo file recorder at quality=20 as far as getting it to MPEG-1. I even tried sticking it into Ulead Video editor 5.0 just to split it in case the file size was not allowing it to go into TMPGEnc. No luck. grrrrrrr.

Can anyone help. Is my file size too big. I thought most of these programs would handle files up to 2Gb. Frustrated again.
