Did you install the VfW drivers (3.06) or the beta WDM drivers? I've heard the WDM drivers give "poor quality" but I've not tried them.
The WinTV card in my PIII-500 dual works fine on w2k. I'm testing a 700MHz Athelon system and the 3.06 drivers seem to work fine there as well except certain capture sizes and resolutions with HuffYUV or PICVideo give garbage (blocky colored "snow") despite AVI_IO reporting no drops and the preview while capturing looks fine. I remember these as having worked on the PIII, but I haven't gone back to verify. But there may be a "fast" Athelon and/or a GeForce2 overlay driver issue. A trip to Hauppauge and NVidia tech support might help. I'm using it with a G450 dual head and 5.33 drivers, while my PIII uses a Voodoo3 2000.
I've not looked into this further as now I only use the Hauppauge cards to watch TV or to act as a video monitor for the VHS tapes I'm making since I've a TRV120 D8 camcorder and do analog captures direct to DV over firewire thru it. Thus I've no more analog capture problems to contend with!
For what I do, any benefits of the improved color space of analog vs. DV is just not worth the hassle. My call is based on VCD and SVCD made with TMPGEnc12a from 640x480 HuffYUV captures and the same source recorded to DV. The results I get encoding straight from DV are close enought to what I got with HuffYUV that I see no reason to do analog captures. YMMV.
I'll sell you my G200 Marvel cheap :-) since I'm not likely to try the w2k drivers (if they are ever released) unless my wife decides she wants TV on her computer too.
