Rainbow Runner Studio, and alot of problems

I Have a Mystique 220 + Rainbow Runner Studio, running on a
Pentium III-800 w/ 256mb RAM and I have several problems and questions.

1) Is it normal that I can't capture in ANY lossless codec (including huffyuv) at fullsize without dropping frames? if not, then why am I dropping?

2) Why is it important to capture to a second hard drive?

3) When I capture from VHS tapes at high quality, full size MJPEG, there are certain points in the movie when the capture just ends, meaning: no frames are captured, but the program reports it's still capturing. this does not happen (most of the time) if I reduce the quality of the MJPEG from HIGH to MEDIUM. any idea anyone? i really want/need high quality.

4) Can the RRS capture in YUY2 format?

If anyone can answer any of these questions, please do.

I can't answer Q1 or 4 .

Q2. Yes . Most impotant to capture to second HD.
Q3. I get the same problem intermitently at 3 M.sec. I usually capture at 2.5 M/sec to over come this problem. But as you say it does not happen all the time. I have not found a reason for this.

I do NOT have a RRS installed at the moment to test this but I found it in some old text files. I don't even know for sure if it applies to the RRS, so perhaps someone could check and see if this key is even in its drivers....

To use YUY2 with alternate capture programs you have to change the
following key to "YUY2":

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Matrox\RainbowRunner\0 \VidC
ap\CurrentValues\ColorFormat

FWIW....

It seems to me this has to be put into a reghack and run before use. Something also tells me that choosing another capture format resets it, which is why it would have to be in a reghack.

Doc, the key is there but I don't know if changing it will accomplish anything. The hack you've mentioned has been discussed before, but I don't think anyone has ever gotten it to work with an RR-S. Here's an earlier thread:
