  • Vertical Sync Interrupts

    Hello all,

I have found a previous thread on this topic but most of it seemed to be concerned with "forum etiquette" rather than the actual subject!!

I have built a totally new DTV system (after months of despair with my G400 system) which basically copies a machine I had where everything was working perfectly. I am using a G200 & SB Live (different IRQ's) and have come up with a problem never before encountered.

When using Ulead Video Capture occasionally (and not necessarily on frame 59 etc..), either only a few frames are captured or I get a message saying "no frames captured, confirm that vertical sync interupts are configured & enabled"

What on earth does this mean? My BIOS settings are exactly as suggested by Matrox and I never had this problem before with exatcly the same G200/SBLive/Chaintech MB config.

If I close Video Capture & start again things seem to work for a capture or two and then it goes again.

I have hours & hours to video to capture and edit dating back 6 months due to my previous G400 problems.....can anyone please help!!?

I am very grateful for all those that have helped me in the past and would love to contribute help in some way myself...if I knew what I was talking about!

    Many thanks

    Andrew

You'll definately need someone more technically inclined than myself to respond but I seem to recall some years ago I had a Hauppaugue card that had probs with vertical sync interrupt and I ended up having to change a jumper on the card or doing a card shuffle in my system until the problem was eliminated. I am guessing that ULEAD uses some sort of Microsoft video capture and it is being picky about the interrupts, memory base addresses etc. in your system. Anyone?

Hmm, interesting. The PC is virtually identical in every way to a set up that I had working last year (it's all the same bits). The only PCI card I have is the SB Live and that is in the same slot and on IRQ10 (the G200 is on IRQ11).

Is it worth moving the card about?

          Thanks very much indeed.

The links led me to the conclusion that my BIOS must be wrong and I noticed that "Assign IRQ to VGA" was disabled.

So far so good, this could have been the problem but I will do some more intensive testing.

          I am most grateful.

P.S. Of course I'll be back with another query if it happens again :-O
