Which on is better Plextor or Pinnacle USB Box?

Hi,

i wonna replace my RRG with a external capture box.

I've a PIII 1Ghz, so external USB 2 is the best way to go.

Which is better Plextor or Pinnacle?

I'm using XP SP1.

The best way to go is almost certainly Canopus ADVC-n with IEEE-1394. There should be no problems with your rig, provided you have an adequate HDD, because you will be capturing in DV format.

The question is which n? The ADVC-100 is the most popular. The -110 offers little practical advantage. They are both analogue in/out. The -50/-55 are analogue in only. The -300 is a "super-100" at a super-price and includes time-base correction and some filtering for tidying up dirty signals.

The Canopus hardware DV codec is recognised as superb.

Matrox Rt.x10 is pretty cool for a few bucks more. And comes with some pretty cool software.

I doubt whether the RT.X10 would work on his computer and it does have software limitations. I'll stick by what I said earlier.

I'm with Brian. The Canopus boxes are the best option. Others make this kind of box cheaper, but the Canopus codec chip, and their renowned support for their products, is more than worth the price difference.
