  • RR-G audio problems

I finally got my Rainbow Runner studio. The video capture (mjpeg) is excellent at highest quality, 6:6:1, 704x480, 30 frames/sec.
I am connecting through my VCR, and the audio inputs are as specified in the instructions.

The line-in works correctly...I can hear audio fine through my computer speakers when I uncheck mute on the line-in. When I do a video capture through PC-VCR (tried VirtualDub also), I get a great looking video file, but the audio is nonexistant. (If I turn my speakers up to the highest level, I can just barely hear the audio).

Can someone please help me with this situation?
Below is some information on my setup.
    thanks.

Try swapping the audio in & out cables. The labeling is sometimes non-intuitive.

The cables are connected correctly. The line in works fine until I execute a capture program, then everything goes quiet. Nothing is muted either.

I am using a generic sound card, pretty old. Could that be a factor?

Just in case, have you checked the recording level (sliders) in your cards software ?
Have you ever susuccessfully recorded audio only thru the line in?

Yes, I tried the sliders/settings inside each capture program. (av_io, pc-vcr, and virtualdub). I can record from the line in through an audio only program such as Windows Sound Recorder.

I'm going to borrow a friends sound card and see if that is the culprit.

            Sorry, super-confusion here !

Now have you got a Rainbow Runner Studio (RR_S), or a G-Series Rainbow Runner (RR_G)? There's a whole world of difference.

You don't actually say that you are using a G400, just that you are using G400 drivers.
