  • A Very Old Movie to Repair

I am in the process of authoring a very, vrey old movie. As regards the scrathes on the picture, that will have to remain. Is there someting I can do for the sound ? It pops, cracks..... You name it, it's there. UMSP apperently has no filters to do the job.

Yes, definitely for audio use specialized software.
I strongly recommend to use Adobe Audition which is the successor of the great Cool Edit Pro
It is powerful and friendly software.
But if you have never used it-spend a bit of time for any tutorial which is easy to find in the net.

And like most other Adobe products the bugs are precisely in the worst possible places for most of my projects

I've never had any problems with Sound Forge , get the vinyl restoration plugin, has worked very well for me.

Try the open source Audacity: it'll cost you only the time to download it.

I'm with Doc: Adobe is not user-friendly.

              Here's the link for Audacity:
Download Audacity for free. A free multi-track audio editor and recorder. Audacity is a free, easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. I am not paid worker of Adobe but I'm gonna remind you Adobe Audition is in fact Cool Edit Pro-it was just bought by Adobe.
Adobe gave only "about" box and intro screen.

I am a musician and I edit a lot of audio files.
There are many details (features) not seen at the first sight which make one program better then other.

I don't wanna list them here as it is not an audio board but I definitely vote for Audition.
Everyone who uses it, never change it to another (of course I am talking about not full-professional software)

Doc-frankly speaking I have never met a bug in Audition. Opposite to Premiere, etc.
