  • Burning a Single Large File on DVD Media

    Hi All,

I have just been trying to burn a MPEG-2 file, 4.02 Gb. on DVD media and ended up with a coaster.

I'm not sure which is the bigest size of file DVD media will take.
    Will somebody oblige ?

    Debbie

    PS.

It appears to be slightly less than 4Gb

Theoretically, it's about 4.3 Gb, but that includes the overheads, about which I haven't a clue as a data file. You should have no problem with a 4.02 Gb file translated into a DVD.

      Brian,

Thanks for your reply. I have been trying to burn a plain mpeg-2 (no authoring)

The ISO format will not take single files >4Gb so I have used the UDF format in Nero on DVD-R and that prouced duds.

I have now used Ulead Burn Now on DVD-RW using UDF 2.0 and had a good burn.

I still have'nt tried on DVD-R using UDF 2.0 and I'm not sure if it is at all possible.

      Cheers,

      Debbie

In my higgerance, I would have thought that anything that worked on -RW would work on -R ??????
