Audio Controls Non-Functional w/USB?

I just finished installing my RR-G and I have it working OK with one exception... control over the sounds with the remote. I'm using a Yamaha YST USB system which is a powered Subwoofer with two satellite speakers. It sounds great, but audio (I discovered) signals run direct from the RR-G to the I/O panel on the YST sub box. So my question is whether there is any way to control volume either thru the RR-Remote or my task bar? The task bar control works for all normal Windows functions including real video clips and streaming video, but not for the Rainbow Runner.

So... is this typical, am I missing something, and how will this affect recording video?
