Read on the Canopus fori that AVID plans to kill off Pinnacles pro stuff (Liquid Edition etc.) and keep the consumer products.

It's very likely that Avid will ditch the Pinnacle professional product range, as they target the same market.
But it could just as well mean the end for Avid XpressDV.
I'm anxious to see how this will evolve. After all, I've seen several broadcasters choosing either hole-heartedly Pinnacle, or Avid, just for their specific characteristics. It's almost like the Mac vs. Windows controversy.

what is more intresting is that pinacle ownes steinberg and avid owns digidesigne.... and now also m-adio... quite and itresting mix there..

i do think that avid will kill off some of the pinacle products... however i am baised towards avid... am a die hard avid editor...

also am a die hard Cubase SX user...

ithink the futur will bring some intresting changes..

Avid Epress DV.. maybe. but doubtfull.. but not Avid Xpress pro. that program will not be killed... it is an essential tool for film students and small production houses... and the avid editing system is simply the standard in that market... even with the advent of FCP... FCP IMO does not live up to what avid can deliver.. inspight of all the hoopla going around... besides... i can never see my self working on an Aple system.. just dont like them... SGI is a diffrent story.... i have Smoke in my eyes ... and since i am a combustion user.. i think i would love the raw power of smoke..

Travis White - formerly the Ulead MediaStudio Pro product manager - is now working at Pinnacle.

                I wish him well.

                He's a great guy.

I met him in Torrance in 2003.

No, not Xpress Pro. But then, I wouldn't call Xpress Pro a consumer product.
