  • Question re output to tape & RT2000

They do have to render, but it happens at an accelerated rate because of the hardware assist. If you didn't have the codec card & G400 Flex doing much of the work it would take even longer.

Most folks don't master to DV tape but to SVHS which analog and is realtime.

Now for the good news: the render time is getting shorter and shorter with each driver release. If Matrox graces us with a faster display adapter to replace the G400 Flex with you may even get realtime to firewire.

Don't feel too bad. The DVStorm takes 11 seconds to render a lousy dissolve on export with a P4 1.4ghz or 700mhz dual PIII's.

Question re output to tape & RT2000

If anyone could shed some light on the following I would be greatful.

I have now managed to get my Sony TRV310E D8 dv-in enabled and can now output succesfully to the camcorder.

I don't understand why all my "realtime" transisitions have to be rendered out before the recording to tape starts.

I am using the Matrox DV codec in and out.

    Any suggestions guys.

Another question is what on earth is the difference between Matrox DV/DVCAM and Matrox DVCPRO and why would I use one as opposed to the other?

    Thanks
