It works with analog only, but can capture either MPEG-2 or DV.
When you first use it you may have to toggle between composite and s-video to get a proper display. After that it'll be OK.
Works good and allows you to capture any integer value of minutes, seconds or hours.
If you're connected to a VCR with a tuner it can even double as an onscreen TV, although it's a tad large
