Not that I know what I'm talking about but ... is this perhaps a problem with bit rates (FBR/VBR)?

Curiosity got the better of me, so I found a DVD made with MovieFactory on the previous drive (HP DVD writer), transferred the Video_ts directory to the hard disk, and tried to capture out of VCapture that way... same deal. It choked and puked, departed immediately from memory, then BSOD at shutdown.

I went back in and checked VEditor and VCapture functions that I normally do, and that all looks fine. So, I won't bother trying that little exercise again anytime soon.

Even if I could get this to work, however, I don't see any use for it in what I do. If I want to get anything that's on a DVD I've made, I can just go back to my source DV tapes for it. What would be the point of grabbing compressed MPEG and upconverting?

Nonetheless, it is a bit annoying to have some feature that's supposed to work and doesn't. It's the same kind of thing that almost dragged me into becoming a beta tester, a number of times. But I'm not gonna fall into that can of worms! No sir! Not me!
