  • Convert to WMV from RRG Mjpeg

    Hi all,

I got an old RRG for G200 from my friend. I tried to convert the video (MJPEG) into wmv using wedow media encoder. But it fail. The error message telling me the video format is not support or corrupt. Then I convert the video into DV format ( I have DV200 in my PC also) and convert again into wmv. It works fine. But a half minute video takes around 15 mins to finish. What should I do? From the Matrox FAQ, it tell us that the Matrox MJPEG format should compatible with widow media encoder. What should I do to fix the problem???

The new Windows Media encoder has bugs in it that prevent this. Maybe once it hits release status...

The encoder that does work with Matrox's MJPeg is the On Demand Producer package. It's also available from the Microsoft site.

I noticed this problem it never bothered me because i am happy with DIVX

if its matrox driver problem you could try downloading Pic MJPEG code
and have that play/decode to WMV encoder
      http://www.jpg.com/

if its M$ limiting there products then get someone to hack it for you
or better still the latest DIVX or 3ivx they are not hacks ,they are
      re-witen ISO mpeg4 code
      http://www.projectmayo.com/ -new divx
      http://www.3ivx.com/

        Hi All,

        Thanks for the reply.
I have used DIVX and feel happy with also. But wmv is more common.

Where can I download the most latest version of window media encoder. I have tried the widow media encoder 8. But it did not work also.

I've had/have this problem, & the work-a-round is using avi.exe to change the format header to MPEG (listed as Morgan) beforehand. I've got the picvideo codec installed, & winmedia encoder for whatever reason will then accept the Matrox mpegs.

As far as I can tell (using hex editor etc.), avi.exe simply sticks in MPEG a couple of times in the header portion -- the actual file is unchanged & can be switched back and forth from matrox to mpeg for editing.

All my editing software & windows media player do use the picvideo decoder once I've switched it from matrox, but it seems visually that the encoder does decode it as matrox. (?)

I've never heard back whether anyone else has had any success &/or comments using this meathod -- I'd appreciate any feedback.

          Thanks
          mikie
