All this talk about dongles - haven't you guys ever thought about using Y-fronts ?
Anyway, lemme clear up this site's (best call it www.desktopvideoworld.co.uk since the dotcom is a bit fractious right now) view on warez. I'm in agreement that wherever there is a public demand that there will be the tech-heads that want to prove they can crack a package (although I worry about those guys that are doing this time after time, don't they have a life ?). I don't even condemn Warez generally, because I'm firmly of the opinion that a large number of users that try Warez and find a legit need for a package will actually go out and buy AFTER they've verified that it does the job well. Hey, isn't this the way that shareware worked 10+years ago ?
Nope, my problem with Warez on this site is that it puts me (as site owner) in an untenable position. If (for instance) I allow either the publication of URLs to Warez sites, OR the publication of hack/crack etc codes, then I am culpable and could be legally held responsible. Besides, I have to recognise that the investment made by Ulead, Adobe, etc. in developing our favourite editing packages must be paid for somehow or we won't be getting new releases for very long.
