  • Cut a large MPEG1 file? How?

IFilm Edit 1.45 is the best MPEG1 cutter I know. When I use to make VCD's this worked great, demux and mux with BBMPEG after cutting.

    Thanks, Rob 100
Yes we tried IfilmEdit, with some errors in the middle of the large file, so I realize that the problem lies in the file, not in the cutter.
Unfortunately I have no direct access to this file and to the computer of my son-in- low and I can't check it out. I mean I am the "third person" involved.

Cut a large MPEG1 file? How?

My son in low made a large, 1500 MB, MPEG1-VCD file. (Yes it's a captured DVD film to .avi and encoded to VCD).
He works with no Matrox card, so I'm the pipeline with the Q. to this forum.

He wants to cut the large file to two 650 MB files and the rest to the third file.
I advised him to use TMPGE, File / MPEG tools / Cut/Join etc.
It works fine, but only the first cut.

Trying the second cut, say from 3600 sec to 7200 sec, the TMPGE cuts only about 50 MB of the file. Refuses to cut the second 650 MB, or so.

Is it normal? Doesn't TMPGE cut large files?

A solution could be to cut the .avi, but now it would be a time consuming process.

      Any ideas? Please.
