  • Help with dropped frames in premiere.

Hi there, I'm setting up my fathers machine here. I had it running flawlessly in WinME w/ Matrox VCR & Ulead Videostudio & Adobe Premiere. My only beef with WinME was the 4GB file limitation. So I installed Win2k this morning.

It's a fairly beefy system, running:

    Pentium III 733
    256MB SDRAM
    i815e mobo
    Marvel G450 eTV 32MB
    2xQuantum 40GB 7200rpm drives RAID/0

Capture works flawlessly for me in both Ulead and Matrox's capture software. But I'm getting MASSIVE frame drops in Premiere that I never used to get in WinME. I'm running NTFS, and experiencing about 35% frame loss when I use Premiere to capture w/ my composite or s-video input.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

What format are you capturing TO? Mainboard?

MSI 815EP Pro RAID mainboard. AVI, Cinepak codec, NTSC default as well as high res.

These settings worked great in WinME, but Win2k has been drop frame mania.

Is this "RAID" on the MSI motherboard based on the "highpoint" controller chip?

        --wally.
