  • Matrox RT-2500

    This RT-2500 announcement posted (a tad early for NAB) by GuyGraphics;

    http://www.guygraphics.com/index.htm...roducts.html&1

    I have NO idea as to its veracity, except that Videoguys is also hinting at it.

    The alleged difference: no requirement for a G400 Flex 3D card. Use whatever 3D card you want as long as it's fast enough.

      No idea. We'll find out if/when it's confirmed and the specs are released.

      If real this product is likely an outgrowth of the RTMac project, where it is also a single card solution.

          Goes official at 2:30pm.

          It also has an onboard G400 just for doing the video output, so counting an AGP dualhead main display adapter you have triple outs. The BOB has also been redesigned and is smaller.

          Rumor also is that the 3.0 MEGApack goes into release today as well.

            Guess I sold my old board at the right time...This sounds perfect for when I get in the market for editing again. "on board G400..." Wow. That would be great too, since I love the dual head output (old G200 just can't compare). Any idea on MRSP?

              GuyGraphics.com is quoting $899.

              Now....with the RT-2000 likely falling in price one can just imagine what Pinnacle is thinking

              Here's the official release;

              Montreal, Canada - April 19, 2001 - Matrox Video Products Group today announced that the new Matrox RT2500 realtime video editing card has begun shipping. At a suggested retail price of $999 US in North America, Matrox RT2500 offers more professional features than any other video editing card in its class.

              Designed for corporate communicators, event videographers, and video enthusiasts, Matrox RT2500 allows users to work with two native-DV or MPEG-2 video streams and a 32-bit uncompressed graphics layer, simultaneously, in real time. Broadcast-quality effects powered by Matrox Flex 3D including particle effects, 3D tiles, distortion effects, 2D and 3D DVE, colorization, and transparency effects can be added on any of the three layers, in real time, with no rendering. Matrox RT2500 also supports all the input/output connections and formats needed for users to get the most from their editing system. Capture from analog or DV tape is supported as well as output to tape, DVD, CD, and the web.

              "RT2500 builds on the incredible success of our RT2000 realtime editing platform that has won numerous awards and been delivered to over 35,000 users worldwide in just over a year," said Spiro Plagakis, Matrox vice president of sales and marketing.

              "RT2500 and RT2000 share the same feature set, based on the Matrox Flex 3D technology," said Patrick Beaulieu, Matrox senior product specialist. "Whereas RT2000 is a two-card set that includes the video editing card and the Matrox Millennium Flex 3D edition AGP display adapter, Matrox RT2500 is a single PCI-bus video editing card that works with the display card in the user's computer system. With the addition of the RT2500 to our product line, we can satisfy our customers whether they want the display card included or not."

              Key features of Matrox RT2500

              True three-layer realtime editing - two video layers plus a graphics layer simultaneously

              Realtime, broadcast-quality, keyframeable 3D digital video effects powered by Matrox Flex 3D

              Native DV, DVCAM, DVCPRO, and MPEG-2 editing

              Support for Windows 2000 and Windows Me

              Accelerated MPEG-1 output for multimedia and Video CD authoring

                Finally they get rid of dual card config.
                Thats my main reasons when I've return
                the rt2k and choose storm.
                I am thinking for second system and comparing
                their suite with rex, so I guess I will wait
                to see the new card...

                          ...and does this mean they've thrown in the 3D towel for real? (yes) which is probably good for everybody...CHOICE, right? We can still buy a G450, 550, 800, etc, or go with a KyroII...

                          It just means SALES SALES SALES for Matrox.
