  • Any motherboard recommendations for a Slot 1 CPU?

I currently have a FIC KA11 m/b (Via Chipset) and am considering replacing this board.

Can anyone recommend a better one to take my PIII-500 (Slot 1) CPU? I also have 256K of PC100 SDRAM that I want to use?

    Other likes:
    Built-in Sound
    Ultra-DMA/66 (or better) support

    Thanks for any advice.

An Asus P3BF will do just fine

      I have ASUS P2B with PIII500/512kb cache.
This is great mobo. But now is old.
For you is better to sell your old mobo with CPU and RAM. An buy new one. As a second I buy MSI815EP Pro-R.

Asus P3B-F with the latest possible BIOS, 1006 at the earliest. I have several systems using it and it's a VERY solid board.

Get the 6 PCI model and avoid the one with built-in IEEE-1394.

abit SH6 if you can get it.
815E slot 1 board!!, maybe overkill for your purposes tho

Thanks guys! The current USD v AUD exchange rate doesn't help, but, I think sooner rather than later would be good!

I don't know what the situation is in Oz, but I couldn't find ANYWHERE in the UK that stocked the P3B when I was buying back in November/December. All I got was "out of production". There was quite a long thread about comparative motherboards back then too.

Yes, finding the same problem here! Maybe it's a bit old now and the stores are only stocking the newer boards?

                I'll keep looking!

                Cheers
