Priemere 6.5 and 16 bit sound

I just got a crappy little camcorder ( don't ask ) and I was doing some capturing and noticed the sound is all mucked up. The video is moving at full speed but the video sounds like it is running at half speed. I noticed that the camera is 12 or 16 bit audio and Preimere is 32 or 48 bit. I also have a copy of ulead VS7 and it seems to work but don't really like VS7 much. Is this one of thoes "You got what you paid for" deals ( I can live with that but don't like it )?
